I'm not dead.

Hey kids, guess who is still Barely.

As you may know, I started a new job last week. I am now a web geek for the marketing department in a hospital. It involves coding classic ASP, a normal work environment and giving a crap - three things I haven't dealt with in quite a while. And I pretty much love it. But. I'm so insanely tired. My commute is a bit longer and I actually have to show up on time and NOT skip lunch to leave early (my last job was pretty really, really flexible with time). I've been sort of zombie-fied every night. This was convenient while I was boarded up for Hurricane Isaac. Not so convenient for the ole blog. (Yes, I fully understand how lame this sounds.)

I did, however, find the time and energy to...
  • dream about Neal Patrick Harris. I made him feel me up. Shamu was watching. They both cried. I'm having trouble finding this in the dream dictionary.
  • start watching Mad Men. How have I not been watching this show?
  • discover that when I ignore my Google Reader account for a week, it stacks up with 1000+ posts.
  • eat more peanut butter m&ms than I will ever admit to.
I should be back to my regularly scheduled features and random oddities next week. Anything new and tiring going on with yous guys?

  1. I'm exhausted. I pretty much left all my work until the last week before school, got it all clashed with big blog posting, an exam and spending heaps of time with the boyf. Now I have deserted him again for 7 weeks to resume my normal life, I am emotionally exhausted and can't do more than do random blog admin, watch tv and eat chocolate.

Glad you asked the question now?

It's awesome you're enjoying your new job! Yay!

    Rosie xx

    1. "watch tv and eat chocolate". I can get on board with that. Hope you are feeling more rested!

  2. Glad you are well - tired can be good! Hurricane hysteria is the worst. I worked in the 'Possum this week with windows boarded up, and it's not a nice feeling.
I have had Mad Men in our Netflix queue forever, but can't seem to commit to a new series relationship. I'm still recovering from finishing all of the Song of Ice and Fire series (all that's been published so far,) and the end of Season 2 of Game of Thrones. I love a great ongoing story line, but it's so traumatic when it's on hiatus or over for good. Yeah, I should get a life. Also, have you seen the teasers for American Horror Story season 2?
So glad you're enjoying the new job, and I hope it is just the jumping off point you needed!

    1. I know what you mean - I am definitely a victim of fictional character separation anxiety (FCSA). I am loving the AHS teasers! Though I must admit I'm a little bummed that the season 1 story line will not continue.

  3. Congrats on the new job! Hope you get some energy or things just become less busy or whatever and you aren't exhausted anymore! =]

    1. Thanks! Hopefully it will become familiar soon and I can remember who I am.

  4. that dream sounds awesome! i had a crush on nph when i was a kid. mad men is amazing. i'm consistently at 1000+ on my google reader. haven't seen a number lower than that for at least a year now. and peanut butter m&m's are the devil, i tell ya! glad you're alive and kicking, although i think we'll all miss the blog posts about nose rings and interviews. ;)

    1. I had a crush on NPH too! I've always been one for the nerds. And I'm sure I have a few nose ring stories left in me. Just today I forgot to switch to my retainer until I was standing in a restaurant about to have lunch with my new boss. I tried to discretely remove it and caught a woman giving me the "OMG that skank just picked her nose" look.

  5. 1)Mad Men is amazing. I need to catch up on the most recent season though.
    2)Yay for great job!
3)I'm always looking for new netflix/hulu series to watch, any suggestions?
4)I won $8 at the casino yesterday.
5)Glad to see you survived the storms and Pip didn't eat your body while you house was boarded up and no one could find you. I'm always worried about that as a cat owner.
    6)Latttteers dude!

    1. 1. I'm on season 3. I have to make the last disc of S3 and all of S4 stretch to the Oct release date of S5. First world problems.
      2. Thanks!
      3. The aforementioned American Horror Story. 30 Rock, Veronica Mars, Firefly, Supernatural, How I Met Your Mother, Criminal Minds, Parks & Recreation, True Blood, The IT Crowd, Six Feet Under, The Walking Dead, The Vicker of Dibley. (I watch way too much TV.)
      4. LOL! That made my day.
      5. Me too! I just hope she leaves my face for last. That's the moneymaker.
      6. Bai.
